National Conference Information
Sigma Delta Epsilon National Conference Seed Fund

We are excited to announce and express our thanks to the GWIS Madison and Mid-Michigan Chapters for their $1500 contributions each totaling $3000 for the Sigma Delta Epsilon National Conference Seed Fund. GWIS National extends a special thank you to the Madison Chapter, which initiated this fund after successfully hosting the 2022 National GWIS Meeting. The seed fund is established in their name and will be used by the host chapter to assist in organizing and promoting the national conference. After the conference, the host chapter will replace the borrowed funds, thereby making the seed fund available for future conferences. Thank you for your foresight and generosity.

If you or your chapter is interested in contributing to the Sigma Delta Epsilon National Conference Seed Fund, please contact the National GWIS President, Shu Li at li@gwis.org

GWIS Book Club

Join GWIS this spring in reading In The Field, a novel by Rachel Pastan, based loosely on the life of Nobel laureate Barbara McClintock. Winner of the National Book Foundation's 2022 Science + Literature award, this novel follows a young woman in the 1920s who overcomes familial resistance and personal struggles to begin a life as a biologist. The novel explores what it takes to triumph in the world of competitive, and male-dominated, science, following its protagonist as she decides what she is—and is not—willing to sacrifice to succeed.

We will be discussing the novel with the author in person at the 2023 GWIS National Conference in State College, PA! The book is widely available, at local bookstores or Indiebound, Amazon, Audible, etc.

GWIS National Mingle
