Sex and Gender in Science
With efforts to progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion at scientific institutions worldwide, it is recognized that research studies mainly focus on male individuals and cannot be applied to everyone. This sparks questions about how to best take gender identity into account in research. Nature has recently put together a special collection of articles, editorials, and podcasts across a number of fields that discuss sex and gender in research. Many of them touch on why progress in this area is essential, and how it can be explored with inclusivity in mind.
