Nominations Now Open!

GWIS EMPOWER highlights the people behind the science – members whose paths reflect purpose, resilience, leadership, and impact. Whether it's a defining moment, a challenge overcome, or a commitment to uplifting others, these stories inspire our community and make excellence feel reachable.

We invite self-nominations and peer nominations from across all career stages and disciplines.

Help Shape the 2026–2027 GWIS Year: Volunteer Interest Form Now Open

GWIS is now collecting volunteer interest for the 2026–2027 year!

Our volunteers power every part of GWIS, including fellowships, awards, communications, programming, membership, development, finance, DEI, governance, technology, archives, and national representation. Committee service is a meaningful way to build professional connections, develop leadership experience, support women in STEM, and help strengthen GWIS at both the national and chapter levels.

This year, we are especially interested in connecting members with specific roles and projects that match their interests, skills, and availability. Opportunities include newsletter editing, social media and communications, member spotlights, fellowship support, interviews for honorary membership awards, donor outreach, chapter engagement, programming, website support, Google Workspace organization, governance support, and more.
We are also exploring new 6-month to 1-year GWIS Research Collaboration Groups. These groups would bring members together across chapters, disciplines, institutions, and career stages to work on focused collaborative projects, such as literature syntheses, data projects, policy briefs, public scholarship, webinars, or publishable research outputs.
Whether you have 1–2 hours per month or are interested in a leadership, chair, or co-chair role, we would love to hear from you.
Please complete the 2026–2027 GWIS Volunteer Interest Form here:

Some roles are elected or appointed according to GWIS bylaws, policies, and current vacancies. Completing the form does not guarantee placement in a specific role, but it helps GWIS leadership identify interested members, fill committee vacancies, and connect volunteers with appropriate opportunities.
Thank you for helping GWIS connect, lead, and empower women in science.
